How does direct deposit work?

Skip extra trips to the bank. Set up direct deposit and have your paycheck or other recurring deposits sent right to your checking or savings account — automatically.

How do I set up direct deposit?

Setting up direct deposit is easy. Check with your employer’s payroll office, you may be able to set up your direct deposit through an online portal. If not:

  1. Complete a direct deposit form.
  2. Provide the form to your employer’s payroll office.

In order to complete the direct deposit form, you’ll need to know:

  • Your Bank of America account and ABA routing numbers
  • Your employer’s name and address

How do I find my ABA routing and account numbers?

You can find both your ABA routing number and your Bank of America account number by following these steps below:

  1. Sign in to Online Banking
  2. Select your checking or savings account and go to the Information and Services tab

  1. Sign in to the Mobile Banking app
  2. From Accounts Overview tap to select your checking or savings account

Where can I find my ABA routing number on my check?

If you’re reordering checks, setting up a direct deposit or an automatic payment or preparing a wire transfer, you’ll probably be asked to provide an ABA routing number.

How do I enroll in direct deposit for Social Security, VA or other federal benefits?

There are 3 ways to enroll in direct deposit of federal benefits:

  1. Visit the U.S. Dept, of the Treasury website. layer
  2. Call the U.S. Dept. of the Treasury at 800.333.1795.
  3. Schedule an appointment at your nearest financial center and we’ll be happy to assist you.
