Mission

The Henrietta Lange Burk Fund was established in 1994 to support and promote quality arts, cultural, educational, health care, and human services programming for underserved populations. Special consideration is given to charitable organizations that address the health concerns of older adults, through either direct programming or research.

The Lange Burk Fund is a Private Foundation created by Mrs. Henrietta Lange Burk. Mrs. Burk created the Foundation as a memorial to her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry G. Lange, as well as to her husband, William Burk, and herself. Mrs. Burk was particularly interested in the performing and cultural arts; age-related health problems, research and care; as well as human services organizations, especially those that were connected to her Protestant background.

Guidelines

The Henrietta Lange Burk Fund has biannual deadlines of June 1 and November 1. Applicants for the June deadline will be notified of grant decisions by September 30. Applicants for the November deadline will be notified by March 31.

The foundation will consider requests for general operating support only if the organization’s operating budget is less than $1 million. In general, grant requests for individuals, endowment campaigns or capital projects will not be considered.

The majority of grants from the Lange Burk Fund are 1 year in duration. Because requests for support usually exceed available resources, organizations can only apply to either the Lang Burk Fund or the Colonel Stanley NcNeil Foundation in the same calendar year. Grant requests to both foundations during the same calendar year will no longer be accepted.
