When you enroll in Small Business online banking, you choose an User ID. Accounts linked to your User ID are accessible with online banking. If you are a sole proprietor using your Social Security number as your Tax ID number, you can link a Business Checking account with a personal account using the same ID.

If you are not a sole proprietor, you can link multiple personal accounts with a single User ID or multiple business accounts with a single User ID, but you cannot link personal and business accounts with the same User ID. If you need an additional User ID, please contact Customer Service at 1.866.758.5972.

Debit: When you use your debit card to make a purchase, the merchant will request an authorization—in other words, an approval—for the transaction. An authorization confirms that your account is open and active and that there are enough funds available to cover the purchase amount at the time of the request.

The purchase amount sent by the merchant for authorization varies by merchant type. Many merchants request an authorization for the exact purchase amount, but some merchants may send an authorization request for a nominal amount such as $1 or an estimate that is more or less than the actual purchase amount. The authorization hold amount reduces your available balance and will remain on the account up to 3 business days when your debit card is swiped or inserted in person, or up to 5 business days when used for an internet, phone or mail order transaction. When the transaction is presented to the bank, the actual purchase amount is deducted from your account.Some internet, phone and mail order merchants send items in multiple shipments. When this happens, a single authorization is placed on the account and the authorization hold amount is reduced as each item ships. The hold will remain on the account up to 5 business days or until the authorization amount is reduced to zero, whichever occurs first.

Credit: When you use your credit card for a purchase, the authorization will remain on the account for up to 5 business days.

An authorization may vary from the final purchase amount in situations where there is an estimated authorization amount or a tip is involved. Here are 3 examples:

• At a restaurant, an authorization is requested prior to a tip being added. The final purchase amount will include the tip. Some restaurants will estimate a tip amount in the authorization dollar amount; thus your purchase and authorization amount would vary only slightly.


• At the gas pump, an initial authorization is requested prior to dispensing fuel and determining the final amount of the purchase. Many pay-at-the-pump gas purchases are initially authorized for $1 no matter the final purchase amount.


• At a hotel, an authorization in the amount equal to the entire stay plus an estimated amount for incidentals may be made. This can also be true of cruise lines and car rental companies.

A PIN-based transaction requires you to enter your PIN (Personal Identification Number) into the merchant keypad at the point of sale. Signature transactions generally require your signature. A signature may not be required for certain pinless transactions such as internet purchases, mail order purchases and pay-at-the-pump gas purchases.

It may take several business days for the actual purchase amount to replace the pending transaction amount on your account. The pending transaction, which reduces your available balance, is generally replaced when the final purchase amount is deducted from your account within 3 to 5 business days. (3 business days when swiped or inserted in person, or up to 5 business days when used via the internet, phone or mail order transaction).

If you have a Personal profile or additional Small Business profiles with Bank of America that are enrolled in Online or Mobile Banking, you can link them for easier access.

To get started:

• Sign in to your Small Business Online or Mobile Banking using your Small Business credentials.
• Under the Accounts section, select “Create a link to your Personal or Small Business accounts.”
• When prompted, enter the Online ID and Passcode for the profile you want to link.

Note: This feature is only available when signed in through the Small Business online and mobile platform using your Small Business online username and passcode.

Once profiles are linked, you’ll be able to view your linked Personal and/or additional Small Business profiles from the “Accounts Overview” page. Linking profiles allows your additional profiles to be visible without needing to log in and out of a profile to view.

Linked profiles remain separate, but visible within the same view for convenience.

Note: You can only link one Personal profile to a Small Business profile to help protect personal access between business owners.

You can link up to 10 Small Business profiles and one Consumer profile.

To access an account in a linked profile, simply click or press the account you wish to view.

Selecting an account in a linked profile will take you to that profile.

Yes. To transfer funds between:

• Small Business to Small Business, or
• Small Business to Personal

Use the “Send to other Bank of America accounts” option or wire transfers option available under the Pay & Transfer tab in Small Business Online or Mobile Banking.

Note: The “Transfer Between My Accounts” option only works for accounts within the same profile.

No. Updates to your profile, such as updates to your contact information or sub-user settings, only apply to the profile you’re currently signed into. Changes are not reflected across your linked profiles and must be updated individually. You’ll need to make changes separately for each linked profile.

To unlink or remove a link between profiles:

• Sign in using your Small Business credentials.
• Go to Profile & Settings.
• Under Additional Settings, select “Remove link to Personal or Small Business accounts.”
• Follow the on-screen instructions.
