Mission

Established in 1932, the Perpetual Benevolent Fund assists residents of Newton, Waltham and Watertown who are experiencing financial hardship. The Fund makes grants to public charities working to relieve the financial burden of local individuals and families in crisis.

Guidelines

The Perpetual Benevolent Fund has biannual application deadlines of March 1 and September 1. Applicants for the March deadline will be notified of grant decisions before May 31. Applicants for the September deadline will be notified before November 30.

Grants are made to public charities that serve individuals and families in Newton, Waltham and Watertown. Applications for general operating support, endowment, capital projects or multi-year funding are not accepted. Only one application will be accepted from an organization during a twelve-month period.
