You can download your account information using Quicken 2007® and newer versions. Just go to your Account Activity page within Online Banking, click on the download link, select the account you wish to download from and click on the appropriate QUICKEN Web Connect button. It's that easy.
Most other financial software will accept a text (.TXT) or QIF file. The text file can be read into Excel or Word. If the Web Connect downloads are incompatible with your PFM software, then select a QIF file option and follow the prompts to download, save and import your account information into your PFM software.
The following are general instructions for downloading, saving, and importing transactions using a QIF file. These steps apply when using the Internet and the most recent versions of Online Banking or Online Business Banking.
a) Download and save your transactions/statement information as a QIF file:
- Go to the Bank of America online statement that you want to download and import.
- Click the Download link at the top of your screen.
- On the Statement Download screen choose the statement period you wish to download and select the appropriate QIF file type.
- Click "Create Download File".
- You will get a message window from your browser. Click the "Save File" button.
- This brings up a "Save As" box (similar to the "save as" function in MS Word and Excel).
- Choose the directory where you want to save the file (e.g. c:\download).
- Choose a file name. Any file name will work, but make sure that the extension is ".qif". For example you could use: statement.qif or account.qif. (This is similar to saving a MS Word file as ".doc" or an MS Excel file as ".xls")
b) To import your saved QIF file into Quicken (importing data into MS Money is a similar process):
- Open your financial software program.
- Click on File. Select Import file. Select QIF File.
- A QIF Import box opens up. Browse through the directories to select the QIF file you just saved. (For example c:\download\statement.qif).
- Choose the account you want to import the data into. (For example, you might have a Personal Checking account).
- Click OK.
- Check your imported transactions by going into the account you imported to. You will see that the transactions imported will have a "c" in the cleared column.
Please Note: If you have any questions about how to import a QIF file into your software program, contact your financial software provider. They will be your best source of assistance.
