Mission

Sue Stinson's life was guided by a philosophy of optimism and cheerfulness. Before moving from her native Virginia to Midland in the mid-1930s, she taught in a one-room school in a Virginia Mennonite farming community and lived in a tent in the Arizona desert. She found humor and beauty in adverse situations, and the good in her life always took precedence and kept her going.

Guidelines

The Stinson Foundation focuses on charitable organizations dedicated to children and families, arts and education. The application deadline is May 15. This foundation makes approximately 10 awards each year and grants are typically between $2,000 and $10,000.
