Domestically and in most other countries, current and retired Bank of America associates are automatically members of Team Bank of America. In some countries, membership is regulated locally. In the U.S., speaking networks that are affiliated with Toastmasters International charge Toastmasters membership dues.

Most Team Bank of America activities are open to family and friends of associates and retirees. Associates are encouraged to invite spouses, children, other family members and friends to Team Bank of America activities whenever appropriate.

Volunteers contribute more than 450,000 hours annually to thousands of organizations across the globe.

Senior leaders act as management advisors, mentors and speakers at various Team Bank of America sponsored activities. In addition, senior leaders promote the developmental aspects of the program for associates' career growth. Bank of America corporate personnel provides a budget for each U.S.-based team. International teams follow country regulations for funding or dues where appropriate.

Team Bank of America was founded in 1921 to enrich the lives of associates through social interaction outside the workplace. Early events included dances, trips to the theater and sports competitions. It has evolved into an associate-driven, multifaceted volunteer organization emphasizing associate development, community service and the balance of work and family.

Associates participate in Team Bank of America as volunteer leaders in addition to their regular job responsibilities. Most activities are held during non-work hours or are completed during work hours with manager approval.

Team Bank of America activities are planned for Bank of America associates and retirees. However, many community service organizations that Bank of America works with have opportunities for volunteers throughout the local community.
