Minority Business Enterprise (MBE)
Any for profit enterprise, regardless of size, located in the United States or its trust territories, which is at least 51% owned, operated and controlled by a member(s) of a minority group. The minority ownership and control shall be real and continuing and not created solely to take advantage of special or set aside programs aimed at minority business development. Members of minority groups must be US citizens. Minority group definitions are as follows:

Asian-Indian American: A person whose origins are from India, Pakistan, or Bangladesh.

Asian-Pacific American: A person whose origins are of Japan, China, Taiwan, Korea, Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, the Philippines, Samoa, Guam, the US Trust Territories of the Pacific or the Northern Marianas.

Black: Black person (not of Hispanic origin) having origins of any of the black racial groups of Africa. Also referred to as African-American.

Hispanic: Person of true born Hispanic origin from any Spanish speaking areas of Latin America or the following regions: Mexico, Central America, South America, and the Caribbean Basin only.

Native American: A person who is American Indian, Eskimo, Aleut, or Native Hawaiian, and regarded as such by the community of which the person claims to be a part. Native Americans must be documented members of a North American tribe, band or otherwise organized group of native people who are indigenous to the continental United States and proof can be provided through a Native American Blood Degree Certificate (i.e. tribal registry letter, tribal roll register number). Bank of America will accept those tribes recognized by either the state government or federal government.

Woman Business Enterprise
Any for profit enterprise, regardless of size, located in the United States or its trust territories, which is at least 51% owned, operated and controlled by a female of U.S. citizenship. The female ownership and control shall be real and continuing and not created solely to take advantage of special or set aside programs aimed at minority business development.

Disabled Business Enterprise (DBE)
Disabled Business Enterprise includes businesses owned by disabled veterans (DVE), as well as business owned by non-veteran disabled persons.

Disabled Veteran Business Enterprise
Any for profit enterprise, regardless of size, located in the United States or its trust territories, which is at least 51% owned, operated and controlled by a disabled veteran. The disabled veteran's ownership and control shall be real and continuing and not created solely to take advantage of special or set aside programs aimed at minority business development.

Disabled Business Enterprise
Any for profit enterprise, regardless of size, located in the United States or its trust territories, which is at least 51% owned, operated and controlled by an individual (s) with a permanent mental or physical impairment that substantially limits one or more of the major life activities and which has a significant negative impact upon the company's ability to successfully compete. The ownership and control shall be real and continuing and not created solely to take advantage of special or set aside programs aimed at minority business development. Due to the absence of a certifying agency for this category of business owners, the DBE must complete an affidavit and provide supporting documentation to be eligible for consideration towards minority participation. |
