Bank of America Partners with USO of North Carolina to Help Support the Troops.
In partnership with the USO of North Carolina, Bank of America has helped bring to life a mobile center that will provide morale and support services to troops in locations that do not have a permanent center like those located at Charlotte-Douglas airport, Raleigh-Durham airport, Fayetteville-Fort Bragg, and Jacksonville-Camp LeJeune. The mobile center is a 34' RV that was donated to the USO of North Carolina by a World War II Navy Veteran, John Lewis Goff, Jr. Bank of America supported the transformation of the RV into a center on wheels by providing funding to wrap the RV, highlighting the USO of North Carolina and the troops it serves. The unit was retrofitted with a flat screen TV, mobile satellite service, a Wii gaming system, a gas grill, 4 laptop computers with WiFi, and cell phones for troops to use.
The USO of North Carolina mobile unit will be used at troop support functions throughout the operational area of the USO of NC, supporting troops at events including unit sendoffs and welcome home ceremonies, as well as to help promote the USO of North Carolina mission at community events. The mobile center was first revealed to the public at the Panthers Lair, outside of Bank of America stadium, prior to the Carolina Panthers football game on January 3, 2010. In addition, the mobile center has already responded to deployments at Cherry Point and Camp LeJeune, as well making a visit to Fort Bragg to support troops deploying on short notice to Haiti. The official launch ceremony was held on February 5th, 2010, at the headquarters of the National Guard of North Carolina. Kari Stoltz, the Triangle Region Market President for Bank of America, addressed the crowd in attendance, stating that it was an honor to be able to partner with the USO of North Carolina to make the mobile unit a reality. Guests at the event included many members of the U.S. Military, including Maj. Gen. William E. Ingram, Jr. The Adjutant General of the North Carolina National Guard. In addition, U.S. Senator Richard Burr, and Reuben Young, the Secretary of North Carolina Department of Crime Control and Public Safety attended. Afterwards, Kari Stoltz said "I was so proud to represent Bank of America as we dedicated a mobile unit that would say thank you to all our service members in North Carolina who work so hard to protect our country and freedom!"
