BANK OF AMERICA AND INTREPID CELEBRATE CLASSIC FILMS THROUGH FREE OUTDOOR SUMMER MOVIE SERIES
SERIES PAYS TRIBUTE TO "HEROES OF THE BIG SCREEN," HIGHLIGHTS BANK OF AMERICA'S HISTORY OF SUPPORTING THE ARMED FORCES
Beginning May 28, 2010, the popular Intrepid Summer Movie Series presented by Bank of America returned on select Fridays throughout the summer. This series will honor "Heroes of the Big Screen" in 2010. The unique series offers members of the public the opportunity to watch classic films for free on the flight deck of the aircraft carrier Intrepid and kicked off with "Top Gun," one of the most popular military-themed summer blockbusters of all time.
Prior to each feature presentation, mini-documentaries depicting the role Bank of America played in fueling progress and opportunity through its history will be shown. Each "mini-doc" aligns thematically with the classic movie being screened that week. The mini-docs were created through an integrated partnership with HISTORY™ channel around its epic series America the Story of Us.
Prior to the screening of "Top Gun," an America the Story of Us mini-doc detailing Bank of America's long-standing support of the military, from World War II to the present day, was shown and will re-air prior to two other screenings later this summer. A second mini-doc from the series will also air prior to a screening in July demonstrating the bank's commitment to revitalizing Ellis Island. Lastly, a promotional vignette about Bank of America's sponsorship of the upcoming Ken Burns baseball documentary, "The 10th Inning," rounds out the lineup.
The complete 2010 schedule of film screenings with accompanying mini-docs is as follows:
| May 28 | "Top Gun" | World War II/Military mini-doc |

"As a leading supporter of arts and culture in the United States and internationally, we pride ourselves on providing access to unique and exciting programs throughout the communities we serve," said Jeff Barker, Bank of America New York City president. "Here in New York, residents and visitors alike will have an opportunity to view 'Heroes of the Big Screen' from the same deck where true heroes served years ago."
Bank of America's support of the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum, builds upon the company's long-standing support of the U.S. military and the men and women serving in our nation's armed forces. During WWII, Bank of America sold millions in securities and, through Victory Loans, helped finance war-time production needs.
Today, Bank of America operates one of the largest military banking and home loans services businesses in the country. The bank also partners with key nonprofit institutions that provide support services to active military and veterans such as Operation Home Front and the USO (United Service Organizations). Since 2008, Bank of America has provided more than $1 million in military support grants. In 2006, the bank gave $1 million to support the San Antonio Intrepid Center that was built to aid in the treatment and recovery of military personnel who have been wounded in operations.
Bank of America has thousands of veterans who are associates at the bank. Additionally, the bank has a Military Support Affinity Group (MSAG) for all associates. The mission of the MSAG is to support enterprisewide efforts to attract, integrate, retain and develop military veterans and to help maximize veteran contributions complementing Bank of America's growth objectives. The MSAG focuses on enhancing opportunities for advancement and leadership development of military veterans through networking, mentoring and information forums. Additionally, the group serves as a network for veterans and members of their family, as well as active duty/reserve military and other associates to work together on areas of common interest and to support those impacted by military life.
Intrepid Summer Movie Series guests can bring lawn chairs and picnic blankets to Intrepid just after sundown and watch a popular film on a huge inflatable screen. Seating at each screening is on a first-come, first-served basis. Visitors are encouraged to bring food and beverages to the screening, however alcohol is not permitted.
