Bank of America recognized by G.I. Jobs magazine
Supporting the U.S. military has been a focus of Bank of America for more than 90 years, through contributions to military-focused charitable organizations, providing differentiated banking services for military service members and having a dedicated team of associates who are focused on hiring military veterans.
This team of military recruiters attends multiple veteran career fairs each year, including the Service Academy Career Conference, Military Officers Association of America events, several recruitmilitary.com career events, Transition Assistance events at various military bases, and many other military- and veteran-focused career fairs across the country. These recruiting efforts are further supported by the bank's career website dedicated to military and veteran recruiting, careers.bankofamerica.com/military/, as well as other channels of hiring, including referrals from existing bank associates.
In 2009, G.I. Jobs magazine recognized Bank of America for the fourth consecutive year as one of the "Top 100 Military Friendly Employers." The bank ranked No. 45 and was the top full-service banking company on the list. G.I. Jobs magazine's selection criteria for the honor evaluates companies on their strong military recruiting practices, internal veterans' programs, percentage of veteran employees and National Guard/Reserve policies. More than 5,000 companies with annual revenue of more than $500 million are considered in the yearly selection process.
"At Bank of America, we not only recognize the sacrifices our military service members and their families have made, we also value the training, operational skills and leadership ability that military service members have developed while protecting our country," said Josh Renick, military recruiting staffing manager.
Bank of America is a proud supporter of veteran and active military duty associates, who now total more than 3,000, and offers military-leave benefits when duty calls. Presently, Bank of America has military personnel working across lines of business and in various positions, including multiple senior executives.
The bank also has a coordinated effort to help new veteran associates meet other veteran associates through the Military Support Affinity Group (MSAG). "Our growing Military Support Affinity Group actively supports the bank's veteran hiring efforts and current active duty and veteran associates with networking and career mentoring programs," said Dayton Warfle, national leader of MSAG.
In addition to MSAG, the bank also formed a Military Community of Practice Council that consists of military veteran associates. This group supports veteran recruitment, educational and on-boarding efforts.
