SafePass® is Bank of America’s strongest protection in guarding against Online Banking fraud and identify theft. With SafePass, you get a 6-digit, one-time passcode sent as a text message1 to your mobile phone or generated from a convenient wallet-sized card2. Since the passcode is sent privately to your personal device, you get an unrivaled extra layer of security when authorizing sensitive transactions (Note: the code is temporary and expires as soon as you use it). With this convenient added layer of protection for Online Banking, you can be confident that only you are authorizing new payees in Bill Pay and adding new accounts for online transfers. SafePass also enables transfers with higher daily and weekly limits as well.

What can I do with SafePass?

  • Add extra protection for online transfers. Use the SafePass code to securely add accounts where you want to transfer funds, both inside and outside Bank of America.
  • Authorize new payees for Bill Pay more securely. Use the SafePass code to safely add company and individuals you need to pay.
  • Get higher transfer limits. Now you can transfer even more money—daily or weekly

SafePass® + SiteKey®= Stronger Security

While you will still use your SiteKey to sign in to Online Banking, you can now have added security by using your 6-digit, one-time code when authorizing sensitive transactions. Since you have private access to your SafePass code, only you can authorize your online transactions.

How do I enroll in SafePass?

SafePass protection is available only to customers who have already enrolled in Online Banking.
To enroll in SafePass, simply sign in to Online Banking and register your mobile device or order the SafePass card.
