What is the status of my application?

Applications are reviewed on an ongoing basis throughout the year. Decisions depend on the number of applications under review by your local market leadership team.

What is the deadline for submitting applications?

The majority of our local grant making programs have no deadline; applications are reviewed throughout the year at regularly scheduled local market leadership meetings.

Applications will be accepted for our Neighborhood Excellence Initiative® as follows:

  • Neighborhood BuildersJanuary 1, 2010 through June 30, 2010 (8 p.m. ET)
  • Local HeroesJanuary 1, 2010 through June 30, 2010 (8 p.m. ET)
  • Student Leaders*January 1, 2010 through February 26, 2010 (11 p.m. ET)

How many times may I apply for a grant?

You may apply as many times as you'd like throughout the year, but only one grant will be awarded to each organization in a calendar year. The only exception is that an organization can be awarded a Neighborhood Excellence Initiative grant as well as a local grant.

What if I don't have financials available to upload?

If you have an electronic version of your organization's financials, it needs to be attached to your online application. If you do not have an electronic version of your financials, please proceed with the online application process and someone will contact you about your financials. You should not contact anyone.

Who reviews my application and makes the final funding decision?

We put most control of corporate philanthropy in the hands of our local executives who know best how to serve and support their communities. Local market leadership teams meet regularly to evaluate applications and make funding decisions.

How soon will I hear about my application?

Applications are reviewed on an ongoing basis throughout the year. Decisions depend on the number of applications under review and the timing of local market leadership team meetings. Our local leadership teams work hard to make timely decisions and communicate those decisions as quickly as possible.

We support most tax-exempt, nonprofit organizationsView Corporate Philanthropy's Local Grants that are recognized by the Internal Revenue Service under Section 501(c)(3), serve communities located across our franchise, and align with our local Community Funding Priorities.

How do you determine how much each market receives for its charitable budget?

The Corporate Philanthropy budget is set once a year. A significant portion of our funding is directed to our local executives who are instrumental in determining how the funding best serves their communities.

How can my organization apply for a grant?

It's easy to apply. Simply complete an online application. Qualified organizations should complete the eligibility quiz, to understand better if their organization's programs align with Bank of America's Community Funding Priorities.

Do you place restrictions on requests?

Yes. Due to the large volume of requests we receive, Bank of America can consider only those proposals aligned with our Community Funding Priorities and located in the states where we do business. Once submitted, your application will be directed to the appropriate local leadership team for review. This team will review all applications submitted and will respond as quickly as possible.
