Bank of America selected Girls Inc. of Dallas as a Neighborhood Builder in 2005, honoring the organization's service to thousands of girls in economically challenged neighborhoods. The program empowers girls to take charge of their lives and become responsible members of the community by teaching them life skills such as money management. Bank of America's grant enabled Girls Inc. to offer programs to an additional 3,000 girls at 33 new locations.

In addition, through the bank's leadership training, Girls Inc. of Dallas CEO Ruth Thomas learned the concept of leveraging gifts and is using her new acumen to request larger grants than ever before, including the program's first $1 million proposal.
