KEN LEWIS MESSAGE

Environmental Conviction

At Bank of America, we have said our goal is nothing short of becoming the world’s most admired company. Achieving that goal requires that we exceed accomplishments of the past and reach for higher standards in all that we do. This includes protecting the environment in which all of us live and work

We recognize that business decisions and the actions we take can have impact far beyond the financial transactions and client services that define our business. As a business leader, we touch many aspects of our environment, and we have learned that the quality of our leadership – in local communities and around the world – influences economic vitality, the well-being of our communities and even the way people live.

This understanding guides our commitment to environmental protection. For example:

  • We have programs in place to minimize the environmental impact of our internal operations, and we strive to stay abreast of technological advances that can provide further environmental benefits.

  • We encourage loans to and investments in environmentally beneficial endeavors and avoid loans or investments that will have a negative impact on the environment, causing unacceptable risks to our portfolio or reputation.

  • We take a leadership role in working with public and private partners to create solutions that are beneficial to the environment as well as the economy.

  • We actively encourage our 132,000 associates to establish and follow environmentally sensitive practices at work and at home.

In these ways and more, protection of the environment has become an important part of the way we do business. We demonstrate our corporate leadership by striving to do our part to sustain a healthy, clean environment for ourselves and future generations.

Sincerely,

ken
